1. What is e-Remit by VALIC?
e-Remit by VALIC is a secure online remittance method that enables plan administrators to submit contribution instructions and funds to VALIC. Participant funds can be sent by Fed-wire, Credit ACH(Automated Clearing House), or on our Web site, using Debit ACH.

2. Why should I register for the e-Remit service?
Registering for the e-Remit service gives you access to more than the basic features. Registered users can authorize Debit ACH payment, view reports, history, and more.

3. Can I use e-Remit by VALIC 24 hours a day?
Yes, the Web site is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

4. Is e-Remit by VALIC right for my plan?
e-Remit offers three remittance methods based on your group's size and administrative needs. All methods allow you to choose the way to send your funds: by Fed-wire, Credit ACH wire or on our Web site using Debit ACH. These options also replace the transmission of instructions by unsecured emails, PC to PC transmissions, paper printouts, cartridges, disks, and tapes.

We would be happy to help you choose the remittance method that best suits your plan.

5. If I choose to upload a file, what file format should I use?
VALIC has developed a standard file format for contribution instruction files. The use of this standard format contains all the identifiers needed for VALIC to ensure timely processing of plan contributions. However if after reviewing the file format you would like to discuss alternative file formats, please contact your e-Remit Specialist at 1-800-853-6399.

VALIC's standard file format is an ASCII file with an 80 byte record length. Each record contains group, plan, and contribution type identifiers that are required to correctly identify a plan participant's account. VALIC requires one participant record per contribution type and payroll date. For example, if a participant has both EE and ER contributions, two records are required.

In addition to group, plan, and contribution type identifiers, each record must contain the payroll date of the contributions. This date can be the Pay Through Date, Pay Issue Date, or the Payroll Date (i.e. check distribution date) that accurately reflects the plan year and /or tax year that the contributions will be reported. If you are unsure of which date is correct for your organization, please ask your e-Remit Specialist for assistance. Once the appropriate date has been selected, it should remain consistent. It is important to note that the date reflected on the file appears on plan participant's quarterly account statements.

The table below provides the group, plan, and contribution type identifiers.

6. Can I upload a Zip file on e-Remit?
No. e-Remit is a secure online remittance Web site that eliminates the need to secure your data prior to transmission. Zipping a file will delay processing and does not encrypt your data, but merely compresses it.

7. Will this speed the processing of my plan contributions?
Yes! e-Remit by VALIC, used in conjunction with a Debit ACH, Credit ACH, or Fed-wire, can speed the processing of your plan contributions if the instructions balance with the funds and both are sent to VALIC in a timely manner.

The contribution processing instructions must arrive at VALIC on or before the day the funds are received. Should your plan processing instructions not reconcile with the corresponding remittance received, an e-Remit specialist will contact your organization for assistance in reconciliation.

8. Should I still send paper 'back-up' reports?
No. VALIC does not require paper "back-up" reports for Web site remittances. If there is a problem with a remittance, an e-Remit Specialist will contact your organization. You may review your remittance history on the Web site by clicking the 'Contribution History' icon from your Paygroup Menu.

9. How long is Contribution History available for online viewing?
The e-Remit service allows you to view up to fourteen months of e-Remit Contributions online. Contributions made prior to signing up for e-Remit, and electronic contributions more than fourteen months old are maintained by VALIC. Copies of such records may be obtained by submitting your request via the Talk To Us feature of e-Remit Online home page.

10. What payment options are available when I use e-Remit?
There are three primary remittance methods: Debit ACH, Credit ACH wire and Fed-wire Transfer.

Debit ACH is the quickest and easiest method of payment. It allows for the same day investment and pricing of funds when submitted prior to the close of the New York Stock Exchange, typically 3:00pm CST and can be authorized by the group at the same time the contribution list is submitted. VALIC receives the authorization and then retrieves payment from the bank.

Credit ACH wire and Fed-wire Transfer, are electronic transactions you initiate each time a contribution list is transmitted to VALIC via e-Remit. Should you elect to use one of these methods of payment, VALIC will hold your contribution information until payment is received from your financial institution.

11. Do I need to send or obtain a letter from my bank to remit Debit ACH?

13. Can I use our forfeiture account with e-Remit?
Yes, forfeiture funds are available for use on e-Remit. You may view the account balance and request a fofeiture payment amount on the summary or payment page. A history of e-Remit forfeiture activity is available by clicking the, 'Forfeiture History' icon found on the Paygroup Menu page.

14. What if a group uses several retirement service vendors?
e-Remit provides you the ability to maintain all remittance information in one location. The Contribution Confirmation page totals the amount due to each carrier, while payment to VALIC is sent with your contribution instructions electronically using our Debit ACH feature. Payment to VALIC may also be sent via Fed Wire, check or Credit ACH (Automated Clearing Houst).

Other carrier allocation instructions are stored for download or print. You must then submit your allocation instructions and payments separately to each vendor. VALIC is not responsible for remitting funds or instructions to other carriers, but we make it easier for you to manage this information in a centralized location.

15. What should I do if I forget my password?
Registered users may click the Question Mark (?) to the left of the Password box on the Login screen. This will take you right to the Password Assistance page. From here, you will input your User ID and your e-mail address then click Submit. The security question provided during your first login will appear to the right. Enter the correct answer and click Submit once again. VALIC will immediately e-mail your password to the e-mail address on record.

Non-registered users should use their VALIC five-digit group number as both user ID and password. Non-registered users do not have the option of changing user password.

If you have difficulty retrieving your password following the above instructions, please contact VALIC via the Talk To Us feature from our home page. Please include your phone number so we may reach you if necessary.
